Technology and Applications

The use of the developed specialized technology and application solutions are ideal in situations where there is an existing traffic control system already in place - but with obvious shortcomings or weaknesses. RODOS Center research will help address these system gaps by supplying technology and application modules that can be incorporated into an existing infrastructure. This approach will be useful not only here but also abroad, where various types of intelligent transportation systems are already installed, often with overlapping coverage.

The program of the Center for the Development of Transportation Systems will generate the following:

  • New technology for the collection of transportation and mobility data – technology which uses a sampling methodology to collect data from an assortment of tens of thousands of “floating cars” via GSM networks
  • Comprehensive database on the movement of persons and goods in the Czech Republic – a physical database with a unique collection of data and a collection and sharing interface for use by related sub-systems
  • Dynamic Mobility Model – a platform integrating transportation infrastructure, emission, energy-demand-use and meteorological models to be used with the most sophisticated artificial intelligence capabilities to handle and manage crisis situations
  • User-oriented tools for managing movement patterns – an application which in real time can flexibly optimize current traffic on highways, public transit routes, and timetables based upon all available data and advanced behavioral models
  • Applications for passengers, drivers – using internet connectivity, ordinary drivers will be able to use their smartphones, navigation devices, tablets and notebooks to plan their travel plans based on current road conditions
  • Applications for transportation experts – specialized systems to support key strategic decision-making in the development of the highway infrastructure, the introduction of regulatory measures, etc.
